Different Claw Foot Faucet Options

Something that needs to be taken into consideration whenever you are installing or redoing a Claw foot bathtub is the faucet that is actually attached to the tub. The reason why this is the case is because installing a new faucet can change the entire look of the tub, either for the good or for the bad. There are several different exposed pieces which need to match to a certain extent in order for the tub to look its best. Aside from the feet, the faucet is really the most important.

There are four basic types of Claw foot faucet assemblies that are available. Depending on the type of tub you have and the options that you wish to include, you may be limited to a certain extent with which of these assemblies you're going to choose. You may also have different options that are available within the type of assembly that you need which may expand the usability of the tub in some way or another.

Tub wall faucets are among the most popular, and these are the type that come directly through the side of the tub, typically on one end or the other. In some type of double ended clawfoot tubs, such as a double slipper, the faucet will come directly through the side of the tub so as not to restrict the use of either ends. The holes for this type of faucet are commonly pre-drilled, so you will need to get an assembly that matches the existing holes. A tub rim faucet is very similar, except the assembly comes through the top of the rim instead of through the wall of the tub.

Wall mount Claw foot faucets are an excellent choice, provided your tub is in close proximity to a wall. One of the benefits of using this type of assembly is that there are no holes that need to be drilled in the tub, so it does not limit you to where you can rest your back. Freestanding faucets are very similar and are an excellent choice if the plumbing comes up through the floor and not out through the wall itself.

Some of the different options that are available for these Claw foot faucet assemblies include either a hand held or a hands-free shower. This can make your tub much more functional, and although a Claw foot tub does not necessarily get used for a shower on a regular basis, there are some people who enjoy taking one occasionally. There are also some specialty faucets that are available if you have a clawfoot whirlpool tub, as these can be attached directly to the lines which also feed the jets.

Choosing the right style, size and finish for your Claw foot bathtub or clawfoot bathtub shower faucet can make all of the difference in the functionality and the look of your bathtub. It's an excellent way for you to make sure that it fits into the existing decor and provides you with the water that you need without taking away from the relaxing environment that many of us enjoy.
