A Variety of Handicap bathroom Accessories

There are a number of different handicap shower accessories that are available for you to choose from, and you would probably be surprised with exactly how these can enhance this part of the home. Far from being a simple bathroom accessory, these are made specifically to help individuals with limited mobility or who may be dealing with some kind of a handicap, either temporary or permanent. One thing's for certain, whenever you have these handicap shower tub accessories installed in your home, it makes life a little bit easier for those that need to use them.

If you have a wheelchair accessible shower, there are a number of different issues that you have probably come up against and you're wondering how to overcome them. First of all, one of the main problems that you deal with is probably the water getting out of the shower and onto the floor of the bathroom. Although it would seem that there was nothing that can really be done about this and still allow easy access to the shower for those in a wheelchair, there are actually a number of handicap shower accessories which can help you.

One bathroom accessory that does this is the folding shower door. These attach to the side of the shower enclosure and they work without a lower track, keeping that open for access to the wheelchair. If they are installed properly, they will keep the vast majority of the water directed back into the shower stall and keep it from getting out on the floor. Another accessory which does something similar is one that is installed on the floor of the shower at the leading edge. Whenever it is rolled over with a wheelchair, it flattens out, allowing easy access but then whenever the pressure is off, it pops up in order to keep the water in the shower enclosure.

Another type of disabled shower or bath accessory that you may want to consider is the folding seat. These are especially convenient for individuals that may not be able to stand up or who find standing up to be rather difficult in the shower. One of the reasons why they are so convenient is because they fold out of the way, which makes it easy for anybody that is not handicapped to have full use of the shower stall. These come in a variety of different sizes, styles and colors and you would be surprised with exactly how many different choices you have.

One final bathroom accessory that we would like to discuss for use in the shower is the hand held shower wand. This is not something that is generally considered to be one of the major handicapped shower accessories, but you would be surprised with exactly how convenient one of these can be. The real trick comes in installing it properly so that it can either be used hands-free or can be lowered in order to wash specific areas that may not be able to be reached whenever you are in the chair. By having one of these installed in the handicap shower, you make it a more convenient thing for those with limited mobility.
