There are a number of different types of handicap tub options that are available for use in the home. For individuals with a permanent handicap, but those that can still move around to a certain extent there are some disabled bath options that can be installed permanently and provide a level of convenience that is not available in the temporary model. There are some temporary handicap bathtubs, however, which you might also find convenient in certain situations. There are times whenever somebody may need a little bit of help in the bathroom but they would like to be able to take care of the process themselves. This is especially true whenever you have a standard bathtub and if somebody is having a difficult time getting in and out of it. You really have to different options as far as this is concerned. You can either get a handicap bathtub installed which the person can walk right into through a door that opens and then seals behind them or you can have something installed which will help to lower them into the tub gradually.

Something else that you may want to consider is the installation of something that would work for the entire family. Just because it is marked as a handicap tub and the fact that it is walk-in does not necessarily mean that it is not going to be convenient for individuals that are not handicapped as well. As a matter of fact, one of these bathtubs can offer a level of convenience and comfort to every member of the family because of the seat that is provided and other options that may go along with it. Just keep in mind that handicap shower tubs do not need to be something that are hospital grade, there are many available for the home that will work quite well.

It might also be possible that you need a temporary bathtub or perhaps something that is going to act as a bathtub outside of the bathroom for an extended period of time. This is especially the case whenever somebody has a difficult time and is bed ridden. There are inflatable bathtubs that are available which can allow the individual to be immersed in a certain amount of water without having to get out to the bathroom in order to do so. Other options may be available for individuals with this much of a handicap.

One thing's for certain, having a handicap tub in the disabled bathroom is going to provide a level of convenience for individuals with limited mobility that will not be available otherwise. A handicap bathtub is something that can not only provide this convenience, it can also give them a level of independence that they may not have as well. Just make sure you that you look at all the options that are available for handicap bathtubs before making your final decision. You would probably be surprised with how many there are available for you.
