A Unique Way to Enhance Your Western Home

Are you looking to add some uniqueness to the bathrooms of your home? Japanese bath fixtures are one way that you can add an exotic touch to your western style bathroom. There are a wide range of fixtures on the market which are done in the Japanese style. Before you make the decision to use these products in your home, it is a good idea to learn about the specific Japanese style bath tub fixtures that are available and what the differences are between western fixtures and products. Only then can you make the decision that will best fit your needs.

Size of Japanese Bath Fixtures

Perhaps the most obvious difference between Japanese fixtures and western ones is the size of each. The eastern products tend to be smaller, as the bathtubs are generally used to sit and soak in and not for reclining purposes. This is wonderful news for those with smaller bathrooms, as this means there will be more space to move around once the bath fixtures are added.

Although shorter in size then their western counterparts, the Japanese bathtub fixtures make up for it by being much deeper. The traditional bathtub style range from 22-32 inches deep and are designed to allow the bather to soak their whole body at once up to their neck. A built in seat is now traditionally included in each model for comfort and convenience.

Features and Location of Japanese Bath Fixtures

Japanese bathroom fixtures are usually installed in the very back of the bathroom area and are generally placed below floor level. There is a hollowed out area where the tub is laid. However, if you purchase a free standing product and not a built in feature, it is possible to leave them above floor level.

Features which can be included with Japanese fixtures include a built in heater and temperature regulator as well as a lid. All of these features work to stabilize and maintain the hotter water temperature that is traditionally used in these products. Jets, built in arm and foot rests, and other miscellaneous features can also be included at an additional charge.

Colors and Purposes for Japanese Bath Fixtures

Unlike the plain white and occasional burst of color which is seen in traditional western bath fixtures, the Japanese bathtub fixtures come in a variety of colors to enhance and match any home décor. There are over twenty different combinations of colors which does not even account for the many colors which can be used on fixtures such as faucets.

Traditionally, the Japanese Ofuro bathtubs and fixtures were used in rituals that involved deep soaking. It was custom to soak up to the neck for a long periods of time and the bathtub was often used by several people in a row, hence the need to keep the water hot at all costs. Now, these same fixtures are used as a means of relaxation and therapy for sore and damaged muscles.

Japanese bathtub fixtures can be a wonderful enhancement to any western bathroom. It is important to understand basic facts and information like that above however, in order to make the decision that is right for your home and family.
