The Round Japanese Tub - the Ultimate in Comfort
There are so many different options that are available to you as far as the type of fixtures that you're going to have in your bathroom. Many of us enjoy soaking in the tub regularly and the variety of tub that we may choose from can vary from person to person. One of the more interesting options that you have available to you is the round Japanese tub, and for those of us who are fortunate enough to have one of these in our homes, the level of comfort that it gives to you is amazing.
You might be interested in knowing that although there are many different types and styles of these round soaking bath tubs that are available, the typical round Japanese tub that is sold in America is not necessarily the same style that is going to be in many Japanese homes. First of all, most American homes tend to be all-inclusive and it you will have everything from the toilet to the sink and the tub itself contained within one room. In a traditional Japanese home, there is a changing area available outside of the bathing area and before getting in the round Japanese bath tub, you would rinse yourself off with an available shower.
Of course, not all of us have the space available in order to do these things so we may just need to install the round freestanding bath tub right into the bathroom with the other fixtures included. In reality, it is just as comfortable to do it this way as to do it in any other way. As most Japanese bathtubs tend to be deeper than the standard soaking tub that you will find that many bathrooms, it allows you to plunge your entire body into the warm water. That is why most Japanese consider the bath to be an area for relaxation, not necessarily an area for cleansing.
As far as the different materials that are available for the round Japanese tub, the sky is really the limit. You can go with a more common bathtub that is made out of fiberglass, or perhaps cast-iron but you might also be interested in trying some of the different types of materials, such as copper or even stone. Be ready for some sticker shock, however, as a round Japanese bath tub that is made out of one of these odd materials can run into the thousands or perhaps even tens of thousands of dollars.
If you would like an area in your home where you can escape from the world around you and spend a little bit of quiet time relaxing, you can hardly beat what the round vintage tub and bath can bring to you. By adding a few optional elements and choosing one that fits in with the existing decor properly, you will not only have a space all of your own, you will have a conversation piece that makes your home all that much more interesting. For most of us, however, it would just be someplace where we can relax for a while.
