Soaking Tubs

The soaking tub is quickly replacing the conventional Western style of bathtub as homeowners nowadays are seeking comfort and solace outside of the hustles and bustles of modern life, and one way to provide this is to create a spa like atmosphere in the bathroom. This movement has caused individuals to purchase jetted tubs, multi-head showers, and steam rooms, and now it is moving towards a more soothing, relaxing style of bathtub. This article will just touch on a few of the many features of deep soaking bathtubs.

There are many different ways to recreate the spa atmosphere in your bathroom such as installing a soaking tub with whirlpool jets that can create a vigorous massage or by using aromatherapy to create a thoroughly soothing and peaceful state of mind. This style of soaker bathtub has been influenced by the Far East, Japan for the most part, and as such offers something new and exotic to counter the worn out and mundane. In Japan, the bathtubs are traditionally tall and deep which allows the bather to sit up while taking a bath. This concept is highly unorthodox to the Westerner, so it can take some getting used to.

Americans enjoy this exotic type of Japanese soaking tub, but as always have made certain alterations that have made it very much their own. For one thing, they like their tubs a little bit larger than the original Far East models; a wider and shallower model makes entering and exiting easier and provides more space to move around in as well. A variety of optional features has also been added to these tubs such as high powered water jets that can set according to the desires of the bather. Aromatherapy is also growing in popularity. This is the ability to add a variety of different scents and oils to accentuate the bathing experience.

In order to get an idea of just how quickly the Jacuzzi soaking tub is catching on in the West, the Wall Street Journal reported that the sales of these tubs rose 200 percent from 2000 to 2005. It is assessed that this may have started with the fitness craze that began in the 80s and has since developed into an entirely new lifestyle. However, this new lifestyle comes at a price when these tubs have a price range of $1,400 to $5,000 and up.

Even so, the price does little to deter homeowners who are serious about adding one of these models to their home. Spending a day at the spa can cost $400 by itself, so having one of these soaker bathtubs installed directly into the home can actually save you money in the long run. It depends on just how important it is to you to have one of them in the comfort of your own home.
